1. Marriage and stable unions

Since 2013, registry offices throughout the country have been required to perform civil marriages between people of the same sex.

A stable union guarantees social security, inheritance and health insurance rights.

2. Chosen names and record amendments

Trans people can change their name and gender directly at a registry office, without surgery or a court ruling.

Chosen names must be respected in schools, public services and healthcare.

3. LGBTphobia is a crime

The STF has equated LGBTphobia with the crime of racism. Insults, assault and discrimination can be grounds for a police report.

Report the incident, keep evidence and contact the Delegacia de Crimes Raciais e Delitos de Intolerância, if there is one in your city, or Disque 100.
